    Legal issues for WV tracks

This applies to Mountaineer as well. Time to step up guys.

    ATTENTION – RIDERS AND FANS

PROPOSED NOISE ORDINANCE THREATENS TOMAHAWK MX PARK EVENTS

WE NEED YOUR HELP- OCTOBER 2, 2008

    BERKELEY COUNTY PUBLIC HEARING

Our right to ride and enjoy our sport is once again under attack. Berkeley

County is proposing a new noise ordinance that could stop open practice and

races at Tomahawk MX Park. The proposed noise ordinance does not exempt

    motocross tracks!

A public hearing will be held at:

    BERKELEY COUNTY COMMISSION

    400 W. STEPHEN STREET – SUITE 205 –

    COUNTY COMMISSION CHAMBERS

    THURSDAY OCTOBER 2, 2008

    7:00 P.M.

All of us who ride and race at Tomahawk need to attend and speak out against

this ordinance. There is strength in numbers. Protect your right to ride.

Everyone who rides and/or races at Tomahawk should stand up and speak out in

    opposition.

If you cannot attend, please e-mail your thoughts to the County Commissioners at

    scain@berkeleycountycomm.org

As riders and racers we must get involved. Commitment to motocross means more

that just training and practice, it means being committed to help preserve the

right of facilities like Tomahawk MX Park to operate so that we have a great

    place to ride and race.

You have to get involved---------run for office(this is the year to do it), you can do it(we did) it helps. And show up at the meeting--------we went through this same issue in our town. Long story short-----it passed but it didn't affect us, they set it high enough so it wouldn't affect us, I think the lakes around us had a little to do with it because of the Illinois rich folks that live and provide $$$$$$$$ for the area---they didn't want to lose them. It would of shut down there summer boat riding. And snowmobile trails that run all over around here.

Our meeting was standing room only, you should of seen there faces when everybody showed up------they didn't expect that large of crowd. And the people that where complaining all the time where only 6 of them. Keep your cool and explain to them that you need these tracks............

And still "What's the loudest pipe" threads get created, and worse yet defended...

Turn out was good. They are going to continue the hearings in reference to the proposed ordinance though. The biggest problem with this kind of thing is the amount of legal fees that track owners have to absorb. People want the track shut down and they keep trying different avenues to accomplish it. The track owners will win on one issue, only to have another thrown up a few months later. Every issue costs big $$ to defend. Hopefully they'll run out of options and drop the issue.
