New guy looking for input on a mini motard
New to the forums and looking for a pit bike to play with at my local kart track. Looking for any input on a good pitbike to start with. What do you guys ride? Pitster pro, ssr, piranha etc?
I really like the lxr but is it going to be overkill for a motard? I wish it came with 12's front and rear for its price cause that would sure make my decesion a bit easier
Thanks in advance!

Re: New guy looking for input on a mini motard
Build your own, might be alittle more expensive but it beats upgrading parts. Why buy something twice. I built mine from the frame up.

Pitster Pro, LXM, 12 front and rear. Plated in NC.

Re: New guy looking for input on a mini motard
What you need all depends on what classes your gonna run in ..
I suggest a KX 65 .... Those things kick some serious a$$ at our races !!!

Re: New guy looking for input on a mini motard
As a starter bike, a 2006 Xtreme 125 is a surprisingly good mount. 12x12 wheels stock. Look in to your class rules for displacement limits. I'm re-working one for a local rider from the undersquare 54x57.5 combo to a 57x54 138 for the 140 limit class, with Kitaco crank. The close ratio trans is great for asphalt. None of the oddball kicker gear nonsense the other motors come with.

I got my eye on a few in the for sale section on the forums and if those don't work out I'm also interested in building my own from the frame up.

Like has been said: What series your gonna race in, what tracks, pure pavement or some dirt, street, ice, just dirt but in sumo trim.....
None of those have been mentioned so nobody can give u any credible options....
If your gonna race look to your local series and attend an event or two and see what is being raced!
Some of the older Chinese CRF50 based pitbikes make great pavement racers, tons of aftermarket parts and people like Terry from Firepowerminis can keep yur engine tuned to perfection. He can also source most anything CRF50 based

All good questions you brought up....
Looking for something mainly to play with at my local kart track with. I'm coming from a tricked out drz which is tons of fun but its just too much bike for a little track. Looking to get a smaller lighter bike and minis are very popular at the local track.
My local tracks that I ride are mainly pavement so I want a bike that geared towards that type of riding.
As far as classes go there are a lot of guys with minis at the track. A lot of high dollar 150r's and sub 100cc japanese 2 strokes that I know I can't keep pace with. I'm not worried about class restrictions I just want to get in on the mini action!

Re: New guy looking for input on a mini motard
klx110 is a good platform to start with and has a big aftermarket
-
Re: New guy looking for input on a mini motard
KX/RM65
KTM65
Best bang for your buck
TONS of people racing these with low cost suspension/motor/wheels to turbo bling options!
Other wise a 10" or 12" wheeled CRF50 clone with what ever motor you want to spend money on.......... KLX110 r fun.....
IF your just going to have fun don't think you have to spend the world$$$$ on a bike!

For me .., it gets boaring really fast if I end up spin'n laps by myself all day long because my bike is really slow compared to the rest ....
I try to run a bike that everyone is either run'n at the time -or- get a bike I know I can mod , so we can all be close on lap times ..
Just say'n ....
