Hey I was wondering if someone can tell me what a 12" front 10" rear Motard race setup would feel like?

with a 12 in front your going to have a slower turn in because of the bigger diameter. not to mention more rotataing weight to slow down. If you look almost all good motard bikes are 10in front and rear.
I didn't have any problems with turn in on my 12x12 setup at Cycles 128, I run 13/43 gearing (Heard one person refer to my rear sprocket as a pizza cutter that day) and it was still a 2nd gear track, so nice and tight.
Hey Kev , just try it ... Ive ridden both combos of wheel size for a 50 motard , and I am by far faster with a 12" front ... Ive never tried a 12x12 setup though .. but having that extra contact patch area up front lets you really push hard into and through the turns ...

i know that the 12" complete wheel goes for $240 though. that includes everything ready to bolt on and go.

the 10" complete are $228 i believe.
i just grabbed one for myself and slapped a TT91 90/90/10 on it. im thinking about sellign it and getting just the hub if available.....
would you want to buy it? it has about 200 ft of ride time on it......and that was just running up and down the pits....
just throwing it out there......no real need to sell it just want to build my own wheelset with all excels only.....

I see you mention custom sizes are possible, got a whole league of CRF70 racers up here in Maine that would kill for something to fit their 1.6" x 12" rims, and would go crazy if you came up with a good 14" tire.

I guess it has something to do with the power to turn a heavier 12" over the lighter 10". I would also think that a 12" wheel will give you a better ride/stability.

Unless your sliding the rear end out, all the steering is done with the front wheel. I would think it would give a vague feeling in the front with a 12" wheel and 10" rear. Usually on sportbikes, you want more weight on the front wheel for steering traction and imput, and most people raise the rear ride height to do this, so I think using 2 same size wheels would be best. I guess you could raise the rear enough to put more weight on the 12" front, but it just wouldn't look right IMO.
You can easily get dialed with a 12" x 10" setup. If your running 12" up front you can raise the fork tubes dropping the front end a bit for better geometry. I think the difference is fairly negligible in the end. If you have the extra cash to burn, get a 10" front, otherwise stick with the 12" make a few adjustments and get used to it.
