    chinese forks......

ok...i'm new to the whole 50 thing...actually, i just ride my kids around, but anyway, he has a knockoff 50, for the most part its been a good bike so far...for him. every time i get on it, i end up ruining something. heres my current dilemma. i was out tearing around the yard, i was ridin a wheelie and it got a little sideways and i fell...lmao, yup i did. well, when i went off the back/side...i pulled the throttle back and the bike went apeshit across the yard and beat ass into the ground...i picked the bike up and the bars were crooked. the forks actually twisted, i was able to straighten everything up by holding the front wheel between my knees and giving the bars a few good yanks. well, now the forks seem very week, almost like a small bump gets them out of whack. is there a stiffener out there i can buy to strengthen them up? or am i stuck buying a set of forks?

i seen these "fork stiffeners" on ebay..they are an aluminum rod...anyone know where they go..are they worth the 18 bucks?

would a billet upper clamp solve my problem? the top clamp on it right now is just a pos stamped steel thing.

thanks for your guys help...and sorry for the long post...i just have to get my kids bike rolling again.

I would say get some different forks. You can always find some good used hydraulic forks here on the site. Just ask some of the vendors what they have laying around. You will be amazed at the good forks you can find for cheap.

I believe ccracer has a set of icon forks for cheap. He may have already sold them but hit him up. They aren't the best forks in the world but they sure are an improvement over the chinese forks you have and crf forks too.
That's right, he said "nappy headed hoes."

There are so many knockoffs out there. Do the forks look like stock honda forks? If they do it wouldn't hurt to put on a billet clamp or maybe even buy a used set of Honda forks - This is assuming that it has stock style forks & you want to keep it that way.

yeah, it has stock honda "type" forks...all honda stuff fits this bike. my situation right now is, my wife just had a baby not too long ago, so she's not working, i have 3 children total and only 1 income right now. i feel bad for wreckin the kids bike, i need to get it back together, i cant add any tall forks or anything, this is a 7 yr olds bike.

i guess my question is this...

will a billet top clamp stiffen them up? or are there any other idea for making them a little stiffer/stronger?

hey holtzer measure the distance between the 2 holes in the top clamp where the bolts go in, i have a gytr yamaha ttr50 clamp that might work for ya, you can have it if it will work for ya.... Also are hte lower legs sloppy? i kno chinese crap can get sloppy and the bushings do get sloppy after awhile on the hondas too, check that... But let me know the distance, and i will measure mine and if so you can have it...also have the stock clamp, but it takes the crf or yamaha style bars not regular bars that go in a clamp they are bolted on, if it has that kind, i also have one of them too lMK...
