All,

Since only 3058 ZB50's were manufactured for the US market in 1988, Which bike do you have?

All the Vins were exactly the same except for the last 4 digits of the consecutive unit number.

The first ZB50 sold to the public was 0006

The last ZB50 sold to the public was 3064

Who has the earliest production bike?

Who has the last bike made for American Honda?

Tmas brought something to my attention about the Canadian models. Apparently they have a different consecutive serial number on them and can be identified from the US Models.

Look to position #12 on the vin.

Pos 1-3

JH2 - Honda Motorcycle, Manufactured in Japan

Pos 4-8

AB220 - Honda ZB50

Position 9 is the check digit This is based on an algorithym and these can be different.

Position 10 is the year

J - 1988

Position 11 is the plant in which they are built

S - Suzuka Factory in Japan

12-17 are the serial numbers.

US models have a 0 or zero in this spot.

00XXXX

Canadian ZB50's have a 5 or five in position 12 of the vin.

50XXXX

Tmas is going to see if he can dig up additional information on how many of these units were made for the Canadian market. Plus, their speedos are in KM/h rather then MPH. My guess is less were made for the Canadian market and are in addition to the 3058 made for the US market.

I have no idea on the ZB50's made for Europe.

Just to complete information of the Europeen ZB50 version.

All official imported ZB50's from Honda Germany show the type e.g. AB22 - 100XXXX to AB22 - 101XXXX

I don't know how many ZB50's are in Germany, but I guess it's a quantity below 1000.

There's no mark for plant in which they are built and no production year in the fin.

I have two ZB50's, one for riding (142cc) and one collectors bike for sale with only 166 km on speedo.

Another one is now offered in ebay with only 68 km.
