70cc big bore!

I have read about an Athena 70cc big bore kit for the NSR50 so I emailed the rep for the US. This is his reply. I never knew they made air cooled NSR's?

We do still offer a kit for the Air Cooled NSR50’s, but we no longer offer a kit for the Water Cooled models.

Get a Kitaco 63cc kit and have it bored out to 70cc's...



My old Athena 70cc kit started out as a 65 cylinder when I got it, then bored out to a 70cc by Billy Wiese!



I had to go back a few pages to search for these photos of my old 2 stroke motor! HAHA! So glad I don't have that in there anymore!

Yeah I don't think they every made aircooled NSR's, so either the block is for the MB50 or the MBX50 aircooled. I had done some tuning and stuff on the aircooled MBX50 back when I was in tech college in the UK, man that was ages ago!



I think for the NSR50 motor you should have quite a few choices for big bore kits. Malossi, Athena are the two I know of, the former likely to be at a higher state of tune. There is also Kitaco, Autoboy, Lips from Japan, though I'm somewhat partial with the Euro stuff as they seems to have a vibrant small bore tuning scene! NCNSR made a sticky page with all the choices out there.

As far as I know Athena still makes this kit. Not sure who sells them in the states though. I believe this is the Athena kit....
