This is a discussion on My NSR Racing Films! With Crash Footage! within the NSR50, NSF100F, MB5, NS1 and RCV Mini forums, part of the General Talk category; Hi guys,
Haven't been here in a while, but I do have a lot of recent video content that I want to share with us ...
I find that our NSR grip levels vary a LOT with track temperature, on the Bridgestones BT-601s. The Dunlops seem more consistent but are a much much worse tire for grip, feel and ease of turning.
The NSRs go down with the same ease as any other two wheeled machine, but keep in mind these are race situations where we're all a bit competitive which leads to being a bit stupid.
As for the CBR125, it lost its rear because the rider was over exuberant. He's not a regular at our track.
Here's another NSR video, specifically a portrait film for one of our racers. There's some good action footage towards the end.
Also, if you like what I'm posting, I would really appreciate a few likes on my Facebook page which I recently put up. facebook.com/pictureandcolor
It costs you nothing, and you get updates on all my new NSR/mini related films. I have several more good ones coming this week! We just had our first race last weekend.
I havnt had the chance to ride a nsr50 or the like. How is the feel as far as traction goes? When I ride at the track on my R1, I can feel where the traction limits are without eating shit. Going into a corner is always more sketchy than comming out but still you can feel when the tire is sliding.
It just seems like there isnt much sliding going on in your video
I hear ya. Losing the front end does tend to be a bit more sketchy and more sudden. There is still some warning, but you're right, it sometimes does not feel as forgiving as say a full sized sportbike tire at the limits. The NSRs don't have enough power in stock form to really spin up the rear, so it's usually the front that goes. Also, it's hard to see what the tires are doing in the helmet mounted videos, there is feel that comes through the bars and the saddle that the films do not capture. And the final point I want to make is that we tend to ride these little bikes harder than we would equivalent big bikes, just because they feel so much less serious and more approachable (and less risk when you do fall off).
You need to tell Shawn how to ride a bike!! Haha
glad you are ok, that's a bad one!
Since we are on the topic of crashes and videos... Here is my most recent high side video.. Happened April 21st 2012.. Cracked my tank and broke throttle tube as well as a few another small things.
And here is a onboard video of me racing with 150R's... Tucked the front, picked bike back up, fast forward to the 4:00 mark after I knock off the mud/ grass, and put my head down to catch up with and make a desperate last lap, last turn pass for the win! Fun times!!
Here's some new video taken just this weekend.. Lebowski (JR) is the rider I'm in front on the Repsol bike. He has a RS125 frame with a worked over KX65 motor. I'm running the XR100 with Tak125 kit and a few other goodies. Equal bikes for the most part! Great weekend
