NEW! 1400 WATT PYLE PLA2200 Car Audio Sub/Subs Amp - eBay (item 350206213822 end time Jun-24-09 0435 PDT)
Sounds like the subs ohmage to me. Check the speaker wiring. Sounds like its causing your amp to cut cause its either over powering the sub. Check this Crutchfield diagram for your application.
Are you running one or two subs off a 1400 watt amp??? If your just running one i think that amp might be too much power unless the sub is wired to compensate the amp. You can always call Crutchfield too and they can talk with you about it over the phone.

thats how we wired it. but the sub has 4 positive and 4 negative terminals on it. so we have the + and - from the amp going to one set of terminals on the sub and then connected the other +s to -s on the sub. just like this pic, but theres more than 3 wires.

might be to little power or not enough
