car audio help
okay. i no someone on here knows something about this.
i have a pyle amp and an ma audio sub. well i hooked it up today and it worked good for a while, but then it blew a fuse. so i replaced it with another fuse and tried again, about 5 seconds later, blew another.. i no a blown fuse means that i might have a short so i checked my power wire and it was good. still have a good ground..
whats wierd is i had a bazooka tube hooked up to the same amp with the same power/grnd/rem and rca wires and it worked great for a long time with no blew fuses or anything.. i dont get it.

Re: car audio help
Check the fuses again. Make shure they dont have any thing wrong with em... What size sub?
-
Re: car audio help
Turn the car off key out. Unhook the power cable from the battery and check and make shure its all fine at the amp.
-
Re: car audio help
i did that. all looks fine, still blowing them.
its a pyle 1400 watt amp and 10in MA 1000 watt sub with 240oz magnets.

Re: car audio help
Hmm... Check the amp and see if it smells fry'd...
-
Re: car audio help
nope. no red light either. or green light lol

Re: car audio help
Im thinkin fuse box is bad/need new ground wire/ wrong fuse.
-
Re: car audio help
right fuses. and if the fuse box went, why now, why didnt it go before?
-
Re: car audio help
Maybe just a short... Its all easy fix... Or just rewire the whole thing... Not hard. Just takes time. Headset get power?
-
Re: car audio help
yup. radio and all the speakers work great, juat no amp/sub..
-
Re: car audio help
Try running a new ground. And if you can a new fuse box.
-
Re: car audio help
ok. thanks man.
i dont think theres anything wrong with the fuse box though, i didnt say before but the fuses that keep blowing are the ones in the side of the amp. all the fuses in the fuse box are good.

Re: car audio help
alright, i got new power and ground wires and rerouted them.. worked for a while, then poped both fuses in the side of the amp.. the amp came with 10 amp fuses in it and thats what ive been replacing them with, but they keep poping so i put 20s in and so far none have blown. i think the prob might have something to do with the battery, because its old and goes dead easy, and the + post wiggles :/... idk.
any thoughts

Re: car audio help
Put a new battery... Haha
-
Re: car audio help
damn. got another prob. lol
i figured out the whole popin fuses thing, new wires/battery.
but now the amp just shuts off after like 5 minutes. green light turns red. radio and speakers still work like normal. idk. haha. the thing is is the amp i have has small terminal things, for smaller caged wires. and the only power wire i had was a lil too big for the slots. and right before the amp cuts off, it gets pretty warm. its been hotter and still worked, but not now lol. so i thought maybe my amp was messed up or somethin. so my friend brought over his amp, 1000watt pyramid. and same crap. my friend had the pyramid hooked up in his camper with smaller wires than mine. and he's never had a prob with it red lighting or gettin hot etc... im planning on redoing it this weekend maybe. i guess im going to buy smaller wires. you think thats the problem?

Re: car audio help
You think it might have anything to do with Ohmage on the sub?
-
Re: car audio help
probably not because we took the ma out and put in a lanzer max pro and it did the same thing.. i tried it yesturday and it worked. not overheating or anything.. freekin wierd. i think it might red light because the truck its all in has been sitting for a while and is hardly ever driven (will be my dayly driver when i get my liscense) and the alternatortakes a sec to charge up or whatever because normally ill just start the truck up and let it idle while i listen to music, but yesturday i reved it to 2k and held it for a lil while after it warmed up... i have no idea. everythings hooked up right and i read up the power/ground wires, the onses i have are 8 gauge. and the manual that came with the amp says to run "at least 8 gauge power and grounds"..
