i am a rider, or old just haven't been on a bike in 17 years. so i thought id throw this question out there.

would it be easier/better for someone in this position to build a stock bike (a 110) or to just buy a used stock bike?

Local craigslist $500 to 800 range for a stocker or you may find one with some mods, which you will need a rear shock or heaver spring at least depending on your weight.
