So I currently ride suzuki rm125s and a rm250. I'm looking at getting a brand new bike. I'm looking at the honda, yamaha or suzuki 250f. I've ridden the honda and yamaha but I haven't ridden the zook. I loved the honda and I thought the yamaha was just okay. I've been riding suzukis for 4 years now and I've had quite a few problems. The only reason I'm looking at the rmz is because I've heard from pretty much everybody that they are the best bike in the class. I can get a killer deal on a yamaha from a local shop so that's the main reason I'm looking at the yami. What do you guys think???

If you go with the Yamaha, be careful not to cut yourself on the plastics!

Best place to ask this tho, is Thumpertalk.

I prefer yamahas just because i feel they are the most reliable but you cant base your decision off of other peoples opinions so just look at the facts. Yamaha came out with a high performance 4 stroke when they released the yz400f in the late 90s and they got it right from the start. All other japanese brands released theirs a few years later and had a bunch of recalls. Correct me if im wrong but i believe hondas were blowing up left and right while zooks and kawis were seizing up due to overheating. They have obviously fixed these problems since but yamaha has had a 4 stroke race engine in development the longest and have had less problems. Those yamis are bullet proof and i would go with one of them. But then again as long as you take care of something it will be good to you. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't thrilled with the bike handling and powerwise though. I liked the honda the best so far. I'm worried about nuying the yamaha though cuz its old technology. I mean why not buy the best technology I can.

Any bike can be made fast though. I mean I can get a new yamaha and put $5000 into making it faster and better suspension or should I get a suzuki or a honda and just throw $2500 into suspension? That'll all equal about the same price wise.

then again any bike can be made fast with the right rider.... so maybe the yamaha is the right choice since you said you coul dget a deal on it and upgrades are always a possibility
