    Zongshen Engines

Ok I just found out that China motors were the fastest things in Vegas this year. What I dont understand is the price diffrence Daytona 150 1500.00 plus and the new Pitster 155z engine 620.00. The two are being made in the same factory buy the same staff using the same machines any ideas

    Re: Zongshen Engines

That is a very good question. I think it has to do with potential. As in a dohc daytona vs +R/V2 155. Reliablility may come into question as well as delivery of power. Of course either the zonger or daytona can possibly put out more power but which can put out more or less usable power is the real question. Quite a few people still like the delivery of the klx over any of the hybrid or crf engines but that could all change with the amount of research and developement the chinese manufacturers and american importers are putting into these engines. Dollar for dollar the chinese motor seems to come out ahead but reliablilty is always a key for many people, myself included. This debate will probably go on forever but atleast we are getting more and more options as time passes. Which is great to make the sport grow.

    Branding.

Daytona's parts made in China are more expensive due to Branding of the Japanese Daytona Name.

I'm pretty sure most of the TTR 110 parts are made in China, and I'm 90% sure zongshen is contracted by Yamaha to make there engine.

    Re: Zongshen Engines

The Daytona being compared was the 2v version, that still costs 2.5 times as much as the Zonger...

There are 22hp YX's, with under $1,500 total cost.

Of course with the Chi-tona, trans specs are included. That's gotta be worth something?

    Re: Zongshen Engines

I would not count on 22 HP form the four valve bolt on in stock form I think that is wish full thinking the dyno graph they are sending shows 1.7 foot pounds of torque

    22 HP YEAH RIGHT!!!

The new 155 uses KLX stud spacing which = lots of aftermarket

The Daytone stud spacing ? = Aftermarket is freakin banky for the engine.
