Some track help.
Me and my buddies made a pretty nice track this past weekend with my 1960's Allis Chalmers HD6 tractor and it came out pretty nice except the straight aways, turns, and burms are too sandy. All the jumps and the couple big rollers we made came out nice and are hard and perfect.
I tried watering the sandy parts to get them to harden up but they didn't. I soaked it too but it was exactly the same. I can make it around the track just fine cause my bike has a 88 kit but some of my buddies are on stock engines. My question is with out hauling in new dirt what would be the best way to get the sandy parts hard like the jumps are. Thank you! This was my first time ever working on a track and I will have pics up soon hopefully.

soak it and ride over it with the tractor. just keep doing it and have your friends water while you pack. plus dont ride right away but do this a couple of times it should work that way

Re: Some track help.
Ahh ok. Thank you. I think our problem was that we rode too soon after we made the track. Haha rookie mistake huh?

Re: Some track help.
no not rookie at all, after you make a track soak it and then let it settle for about a day then pack it in or go straight to riding. Thats what i do and my track is pretty good. Ill post pics

Re: Some track help.
add some clay to sandy areas if it's not available add dirt.

Re: Some track help.
Get the dirt real wet and compact it with a tractor... let it bake hard... Repeat 2-3 times... takes patience for sure... at least that was my experience with this sandy soil we have... first build was all top soil and super sandy.
The second time I re-built my track it went faster and the dirt got tackier... the third time even better... For me, digging deeper brought out better dirt. I learned to be patient, add more water, and pack as much as possible while building... soaking it after doesn't seem to be enough... My track's pretty much ready to ride right after a rebuild/refresh now...
My track started sooo sandy, and now it packs awesome.
