my money would be it failed cause of the horrible clutch wobble they have.

Regardless of the last owner these engines have "bad clutch wobble." If he raced it too, chances are its been hammered on. As for a cause? I'd think of it like a snow ball rolling down a hill, starts off small then gets bigger. So the teeth on the basket one failed then the rest went with it. The tooth failure could be a number of things, poor casting, metal fatigue, etc. I'd look at everything else in there while its apart, chances are some other things got ate up too.

i took it apart and the problem was the bolts on the clutch basket were scretching and they were about to break so i put some new ones in and put allen bolts in the clutch and oil slinger and when i put it back together there was a really bad vibrating sound so i took the clutch cover off and there was nothing rong so i put it back together and i started it and the problem was that the skid plate was vibrating like crazy and i never noticed it so it is working good. but it seems like there is a wissling sound in the light side of the motor is that supost to be there? it wasnt there before. thanks for all the help to really needed it.
