ID:	153661 With steel wool and some rust dissolving gel i got front rim looking pretty good. I plan to leave he hubs aluminum. No paint. I found a back wheel on ebay. It was about $60. I was hoping someone on here had a little nicer for about same money. I have about a half a dozen things on order. New gas tank fuel petcock, gas tank cap rubber washer, chrome washer to go under steering column nut and few other small parts.

I'm quite surprised you didn't try to remove the sprocket studs from the CR wheel with a little heat and a pair of vise grips, rather than trying to drill them out.

Well if i could start again i'd done that. I didn't know you could heat up aluminum. I thought it would melt. Even if i would have got CR hub studs out i would have had a tough time trying to rig it so bolt head are nuts were almost flush with sprocket. The XR sprockets studs are weld to them so there flush. Really isnt enough room for nuts on outside of sprocket, but you probable knew that

You could have countersunk the bolt holes in the sprocket, and used M10 countersunk allen sprocket bolts.

ID:	153792 Front wheel is all done!!! Now i need to order new cables. I'm bidding on used XR 75 handle bars for it now. I look to get bars for $21. I'll have to repaint them, but still alot cheaper than new ones for a $100

I ended up being high bidder on XR 75 handle bars on Ebay, so there on there way. They looked pretty good but i still plan to repaint them. I did a buy it now on Ebay for a 1979 XR 75 rear wheel for $68. Pretty good shape. I'll strip off it's paint and remove rust from rim an polish it up. I also bought a new IRC 3.60-14 intermediate rear tire off ebay for $55.

Yesterday i ordered a throttle, brake and clutch cables. Also ordered grips and twist throttle. I figured since i'll have handle bars soon, I just as well get the the stuff that goes on the bars and have it done. I have been working on removing paint from gas tank.

It's a little late, but CR bend bars are a good bit narrower than the XR75/80 bars which tend to unbelievably wide. Also CR85 clutch lever offers a bit easier clutch pull (not so bad on the XR80R, definite must on an XR100R).

Something I'm not too late for, an All Balls steering stem taper bearing kit (same as Z50 kit). Eliminates chasing the loose balls all over your shop, trying to assemble them onto the races without loosing most/many of them, not to mention improved front end feel.

I wanted bar to look like original. CR's would have worked, just didnt want pro taper looking bars. Steering column done. Got 22 new bearing. Went together well. So your saying the bike is known for having a stiff clutch lever. It was a little hard to pull clutch in before i started taking bike apart

Sure. Why not swap the front wheel for a CT90/110 hoop? The tire selection for 16" blows. - Sorry, just noted you've got the front wheel and tire assembled as well.
