    KOSO 180cc DOHC

My friend is custom building a new engine for his Gorilla project. He will be using the KOSO 180cc DOHC kit, make for the Yamaha Cygnus scotter as part of his engine build. Most of the Takegawa cylinder kits are make by KOSO in Taiwan. The Takegawa DOHC kits are also make by KOSO in Taiwan.

This will be a water cool engine. Once the engine is build, my friend estimate the HP to be about 25-27hp for the 180cc kit. He is planning on lengthing the crankshaft to make the engine over 200cc and to produce over 30hp.

Here are a few photos to his KOSO 180cc DOHC kit that have just arrived after 8 months of order.

The length of the cylinder and the cylinder head are the exact same length as my Takegawa SCUT 138cc DOHC kit's cylinder and cylinder head.

The 57mm used piston came out of my Takegawa SCUT 138cc Twin Spark Super Head + R, after 3000km of used.

This is the 63mm KOSO piston and my friend will be using a 68mm piston for his bike, instead of this 63mm version

My friend is now in the process of making his own crankcase to fit this KOSO 180cc DOHC kit. I am really excited to see the engine once it is build and dyno.

Will update more photos once his custom crankcase is ready

    Something different, nice.

(That koso kit looks very pretty.)

Kevin, that cylinder lining looks to be coated and not a steel bushing. How is your friend going to bore that cylinder to 68mm?

    Thanks nielspbr

It's something different that is for sure. My friend will be boring it to 68mm by polishing off the coated part and inserting a new steel bushing, that was how he explained it to me.

The KOSO piston size is a 63mm at the moment and it is a 15mm pin.

What size piston do you need to go with your 13mm pin?

My friend order it on the 1st day that the press release came out for this product and it took them 8 months for KOSO to start selling it from the day of the press released.

Ok, will do when I go back to see my friend later today or tomorrow.

I think my buddy is deciding between the TMR-MJN-30 to TMR-MJN-34. He will know once the engine is build
