This is a discussion on Another Street Legal Mini within the Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes forums, part of the General Talk category; word of advice... i had that seat... bent on me after riding it 2-3 times. if you sit real far back (long legs like me) ...
word of advice... i had that seat... bent on me after riding it 2-3 times. if you sit real far back (long legs like me) you might end up bending it. i had to send mine back for warranty and they sent me back the smaller, more expensive original looking 79-88 seat for free!. that that seat is much more sturdy.
i was gonna weld a bar in the rear , or a single strip of steel in between the seat and the frame at the very very rear

Thanks for the heads up. I have nice TB Z seat thats mint and may swap it out if I run into the same issues you had. BTW does anyone know if you can remove the white stencils on the seats without destroying the material? I dont think I will want the Z lettering on this bike as its not the look I am going for.
Also, I talked to Chris at Pitster last night and think I will just be going with a 146 swap to build up this motor versus the 150 e start swap... anyone have experience with this build up? He said that they put out similar numbers to a stock 150 and are really reliable.
It was well over 100 degrees again here for most of the weekend so I took the time to shop for riding gear. I was able to find a 3 season layered Cortech riding jacket, a KBC helmet that matches the blue on the bike and ICON riding gloves. I caught a a few holiday deals so overall it wasn't too bad price wise.
On Monday I finally braved the heat and ended up making decent progress on a few things that I had been meaning to finish for a week or two.
I was able to:
Fully mount the steering stabilizer (fabbed a bracket to hard bolt onto the frame)
Upgraded the Ignition wire (8.8 ACCEL yellow)
Install the new seat (I like it, but I am still undecided on a long term swap)
Remove rear luggage rack/light assembly for grab bar swap.
Add Honda decals on tank
My grab bar was delayed in the shipping process due to bad weather in KS so it won't arrive until today. Once that gets here I will be installing the carbon fiber turn stalks (front/rear).
Attached are pictures of the riding gear, the tank with decal and prep, the mounted stabilizer and a blurry picture of the bike as it sits today.
I will get a clearer one once the rear rack is on.
Thank you both for the comments. I was able to pick up new foot pegs today as well. I will post up a picture of those later. I went with a round burled aluminum set and they look pretty sick IMO. On top of that they are WAAAYY lighter than the heavy steel pegs (with rubber boots) that the bike came with.
Thinking about ordering this kit for the stock motor and then upgrading to the bigger valve head later. It seems like a pretty simple swap.
I know this motor has a 13mm wrist pin and 57mm stroke so its compatible with the kit, but before tearing it down I was hoping to get feedback from anyone who has used the kit on this type of small valve motor. Is it reliable and is the performance worth the swap before changing the head?
I was able to mount the rear grab bar/light bracket this weekend and it fits perfectly.
The rack also goes far enough under the seat so I can mount an adidtional support for the rear seat brackets- this will eliminate any chance of bending in the future.
Here is a picture of the rack installed with the seat on as well.

Shocks still appear to be lost in transit... fighting that battle with a non PM vendor overseas now.
The mirrors get here today and the pegs are ready to be put on as well.
I was certain these things were lost in the Pacific Ocean somewhere between Thailand and the California coast. (I'm glad to finally get these in my hands)
These are much nicer than the stockers and the quality seems higher than the CHP shocks I used on the Z50R in the past.
I also ordered a new Super Cooler II from T-Bolt this afternoon so it should get here this week.
Almost all of the parts are on the bike or on the bench- now it's time to continue the build up.
Since know one ever spoke up on doing a 146cc bore up and head kit on this motor I will assume that I need to go another route on that in the future...
Installed the new shocks and pegs last night and they look great. I will be getting another shipment tonight from Wholesale Cycle and then will snap a few progress pictures of the bike.
Bike looks awesome! So clean! I've been eyeballing that Pitster Mini Rover125 for awhile now, I've always wanted to build a custom Z50 like some of the sick ones I've seen from Japan and France(Blast Factory). I was thinking that Pitster Mini Rover125 would be a great blank slate to start with but I questioned the compatibility of aftermarket parts. Will most aftermarket parts for the Z50 fit on the Pitster without any issues? Please excuse my naive questions but I'm honestly new to the whole mini bike thing even though I've owned several street bikes. Did you get those wheels from Wholesale Cycles too? They bolt right on?
I'd love to purchase one of those Mini Rover125's and create something like this:
Am I only dreaming trying to build something like that here in the States? I know we don't have half of the aftermarket that they have over in France, Austraila, Japan, ect...
Anyway, sorry for all the questions, the bike really looks great man. Cheers!

In short yes!
(forks, wheels, exhausts, tanks, seats, you name it)
Things to watch out for, chinese cast wide wheels like the falcon copies have the wrong offset, looks if they only widened one half of the wheel.
The big kawalike top end engines, some have the correct honda ports (intake exhaust) some have the klx110 port placing.
monkey type seats do not match with gorilla tanks because the gorilla(rover) tank is longer (as far as I know the chinese frames have both mountpoints, mine has)
AmericanNightmare, you can get the high end Japanese stuff, the problem is with the dollar being as weak as it is the stuff is pretty expensive right now. Check out Webike Japan or Honda50.com (A PM sponsor) as sources if money doesn't matter. Or if you're on a budget, HFM has used this guy or on Ebay it's the same guy. The parts are cheaper in more ways than one from what I understand, but have gotten some fairly decent reviews.
