ignition cover/ ignition info needed

I am having trouble with my z50 ignition cover fitting,is there a different cover for early and later 6v ignitions? the only cover i have that clears the flywheel is off a late model china clone. Here's what i did to the engine,to clarify any questions- early engine cases-z50ae143453 {k1},84' crankshaft, 6volt points ignition off of a k1 engine, so did i not seat the flywheel correctly? or do i need an early ignition cover? i still have the complete igntion off of the 84' engine but saving for another engine,so i didn't think there was a problem using the k1 igntion on the 84' crank.Thanks for the help

If you're using the K1 flywheel, it will not seat properly on the '84 crankshaft, due to a different crank taper. The K1 flywheel is not sliding all the way on. I'm not sure if the '84 flywheel will work properly with the K1 stator, either.

Thanks for the info,that sounds logical.I didn't think there was early and late ignition covers.This is my first foray into mixing parts from different model years.I do have the complete flywheel and stator assy from the 84' i will swap out.thanks for the info
