I know it's a K0, but i cant for the life of me find a manufacture date.. The Serial # reads ct70-100272 It being lower numbers, I would think it is a 69? anyone have any insight? I'm likely going to restore it to it's original state the best i can.

i've seen that, but that still only narrows it down to 69-71.
If it's the original engine.......Maybe try checking the engine serial number? Hope this helps.

Your bike is a 1969 and likely a silver tag model, which are the more desirable ones. I have a 1969 with a build date of 09/69 with a frame serial number starting with 191xxx. Yours would have to be a early 69 with a frame number starting with 100xxx. If you have a look at the motor on the left side near where the shifter is, it should also have a number that is close to the same series of numbers. If is it close to the number on the frame its likley the original motor. Mine is off by about 80 between the motor and frame numbers.
You can also have a look at the horn you have, see if the has screws or rivots on the housing shell, the early solver tags used screws.
Thanks blacufo! The engine serial# reads ct70E 100342 , So it would appear it is likely orignal. The horn does have philps head screws instead of rivits. When you say Silver tag, are you refering to the tag on the head tube? Because it does have a silver label there. Where would i look for a manufacture date?
Silver tags like you have wont have a manufacturing date on tag, but they were from the first month of production which would have been August. I have an early Black tag 1969,( black tags they added the VIN and production date) which was built in 09/69 and still has the early parts like you have on yours. Based on the number on the frame and motor I would say you have a matching numbers bike, and most likley one that was made on the first or second day of production. Its safe to say your frame is probably the the first of 272 made based on the VIN and the motor is the first of 342 made for 69 CT70. Nice find
My vin reads
CT70101861
Registration says its a 1970 but the online chart its between 69-71
is this the silver tag?
and mine has screws on the horn
dont have original engine with it
that is a silvertag ID, and this would be an early production 69 based on your production number. If your registration says 1970, then its likely when the bike was sold or actually registered with your DMV. I have another Ct that has a build date of 10/1971 but my title shows 1972.
this is how I got it, also street legal with original license plate and newer plate
added couple newer parts but other then that nothing else done
how it looks now
so you think the $1500 price was fair? even though it didnt come with original engine/exhaust
I think that is a fair price. Being that its a plated bike in California I would say bumps up the price vs one without a plate. If your gonna ride these on the streets the aftermarket motors are an inexpensive way to get them to perform on the street. To rebuild a stock 70 the right way to get it to pull a 200lbs rider around your will spend a few hundred bucks just on parts to do it right, not to mention labor if you cant. You can always keep an eye out for a motor out of Ct70 with a serial number close to what your frame number is. Nice bike
