I will be rebuilding the original motor but I want to play on it now.

I plan to put in a new Lifan 125 4speed manual clutch
    full 12v conversion
new tires, brakes, lights, controls, suspension etc

let me know your opinion and suggestions.
I ride sportbikes and have done extensive mods and maintenance to many bikes but im new to minis

Get one of the 140 or 155 engines. U will be happier.

You are probably right, but the engine is already ordered. Maybe a 160 in the future.

Finally got the ct back together.

    New Lifan 125 manual
New wiring full 12v conversion, headlight, tailight etc
    New grips, levers, mirrors
New carb, air filter, gas tank
    New rear shocks
    New cables
    New brake shoes
    Changed oil - Mobil1 10w40 full synthetic

Engine bolted right up. wiring was such a pain, so much extra stuff with the 12v system and the battery wouldn't fit under the seat with the supplied tray.

Just waiting on the new footpegs, exhaust, and tires to get it on the road.

still want/need a new seat and want to do a full disc brake swap in the front including new forks.

Drain the synthetic oil before you ride the bike.

Actually, I tried to ride it before reading your post and it acted funny as hell. I came on here to ask but i think you already answered my question sir.

it started right up no problem, wouldn't shift into first gear (down) from neutral. Also when I shifted up from neutral with clutch lever in,l it killed it as if the clutch wasn't disengaged. ok, so i tightened the clutch cable, while on the center stand the wheel would not spin easy while in gear.

then i tried to shift the gears while bike was off, starting in neutral, again i could not shift down while turning the back wheel, it would shift up one gear but would spin with an excessive amount of friction. then it would shift up into another neutral????? tire spun freely with clutch lever out. it would also shift up once more from there and do the same, spin with a lot of friction.
this is supposed to be a 4speed manual clutch 1 down 3 up etc

    this shit is confusing

I will try and change the oil, what would you recommend i run?

Tober13 when you wired up the 12v system did you use a rectifier or did you just run everything off the battery and the motor?
