    So I did a thing..

I was Pawn Shop hoppin for the fun of it and walked in and saw this. They had it listed for $600. I looked it over and noticed it had a few aftermarket parts:

    TAG clamp/bars
    BBR Exhaust and skid plate.
    Pro Wheel Components rear shock
    Fairly new F/R tires
and the real kicker, which they had no idea, was it has an 88 kit on it. As soon as I looked at the cylinder and didn't see the 49cc stamp I knew something was up. Took it for a spin and sure enough, pulls like an 88.

I ended up paying $610 with taxes out the door and couldn't be happier.

Sweet find. Swap the motors and sell that skinny-tire blasphemy. Haha

I told the old lady that's what gonna happen at some point. I'll get a 108 most likely and give her the 88. She's a little iffy on just the stock motor right now, she's gotta get her sea legs back. I don't think she's ridden in about 10 years.

Why don't I go fat tires on the crf? Best of both?

    Back on track..

How's this look? I measured 27mm on the stock swingarm, threw tape over the XR75 and cut it to 27mm. In theory, I think it should work. I saw Geezer's pictures, looks like he just went at it.

All those other doodads, brackets and whatsits can be cut off correct? I mean, I'm not running a chain guard off the xr75 so I don't see why I'd need any of those other tabs.

I'm gonna try to go to Home Depot or Lowes and find a piece of steel stock .5in in diameter. I believe that's what I'd need to weld in for a brake tab. I'm a little nervous about this, I don't wanna screw the alignment. There isn't much step by step on doing this so I'll do my best to document it here.

You won't need any other bracket aside from the shock mounts. Cut them off and smooth over.

Adding the brake tab thing should not really have any effect on alignment as i see it. The just there to keep the brake plate from rotating but also move back and forth to allow for chain adjustment. If it's off by a little the your brake plate will just be angled slightly up or down. No biggie there.

I see what you're saying. I'll just throw the axle rod through the tire with the drum in it and mark a spot it'll line up.

The weather sucks out here, but I guess it's forcing me to take my time since I can't rush outside to ride

So if I kept the motor stock, what are some opinions on what the bike maybe worth when it's done? The lady seems to like the feel of the crf vs the Z (I know, she's a heathen).

I have bar clamps from chum coming and bars to go with it. As well as HD fork springs, brake pads and extended brake cable.

New EBC pads, these things are nice. Came with new springs too, which were a pain in the butt to get on. I really wanna grab a set of these for my CRF.

So, I'm at a cross roads. It looks like I'm going to sell it. However, depending on what the buyer wants can change the final product. I have a triple clamp w/ bars, the XR80 swingarm + shocks (not modified, yet) and an 88 motor with a racehead. If I didn't need plane tickets to get home in August, I'd just build it up and keep it. I really like this bike and had a blast building it.
