    Cam Sprocket Holes don't align

Accidentally posted this over on ThumperTalk also.

Trying to finish my top end but have spent the last 1/2 hour trying to reinstall my cam sprocket when I realized that the sprocket holes on the sprocket won't align with my TB Race Cam that came with my TB Big Bore w/ RH kit.

How do I make this work? Buy a different sprocket?

I just reinstalled mine on my race head the other night. No issues with either my original cam gear or the brand new oem Honda unit I replaced it with.

What year is that cam gear from? The TB kit I bought was for a 12v motor. I'm not sure but maybe the 6vs have a different cam gear.

I think you need to get the cam gear from a newer bike that only has two holes. Older ones have 3.

Guess I will order a new cam sprocket and dowel. The motor is a 12v '91 Z50.

    Thanks guys

I checked the part numbers and mine does have a different part number.

Out of curiosity.... does your 1991 12 volt motor have original roller cam bearings? I remember reading the 91's don't use the roller cam bearings.

It doesn't look like it but not sure where they would go.

Thanks....At the end of the cam like on the race head cam. I'm pretty sure the Z50R 12 volt cdi motor didn't have a roller cam bearing design from 88-91.

The microfiche diagram shows both the two-hole and three-hole sprockets, my guess is that '91-'93 were the transitional years of going from a journal bearing cam to to roller bearing cam
