    Restoring A Z50A

I am restoring this mini for my son's birthday at the end of the month. This mini was owned by his great-grandfather who was a Mason and rode it in parades. The tires were ROACHED but original and held air, couldn't believe it! After working on it for only about 30 mins, she started right up, couldn't believe that either. I have never restored anything and am just asking for general tips and pitfalls to avoid. I have attached some pictures. Thanks in advance for any help. Can anyone tell me if the, I'm not sure what to call it... engine guard in the first picture is stock or is it an add on? Is this the hardtail frame?

What you have is a 1969 silver tag bike. Yes that's a hardtail frame. Be sure to check all the weld mounts on the rear of the bike for cracks now that it's blasted. The vin number look to be about 128517?? Those were not factory on the z50's. Please feel free to call or text with any questions you may have.

    Mike,
Thanks for the information. Yes the vin is 128517. I have a feeling I will definitely be reaching out as the project continues, thanks again.
