Usually as a last ditch effort to get a 6v horn working, I hook it up to 12v power. Usually to my truck battery. Back out the trim screw a little, and monkey with the screw as you try 12 volts. Sometimes high power will free it up.

It started raining today so I have not got to it yet. I saw oil leaking from the shifter & realized that I never drained the old oil.

Can I use a pick and replace the seal with the shaft still in there?

I have new seals for a z50, I want to replace the kick start seal too. Im headed back to the garage, time to fire it up.

I put oil & gas in there, tried starting it but the engine feels weird.

It does not turn over freely, there is resistance and it does not feel right.

Before I installed the top end the lower end spun around freely, it felt normal.

I spun the flywheel backwards and fowards, it moves but for some reason it wont spin full circle with the kick start lever.

Can you spin the flywheel...round and round, no obstruction?? Does it only bind with the kickstart?

My valves were too big, they got stuck. I pulled the head apart and installed the old valves after lapping them.

Now the engine turns over just fine but I dont have any spark.

I have new points and condenser for bike but did not install them. Mainly because I dont know how to set the point gap. Im pulling off the flywheel now.....

The new condenser is soldered in, new points installed and gap is set. However I am still not getting spark.

Could it be my on/off switch is bad, or do I need to replace the ignition coil?

I have an extra z50 coil & another CT 70 coil on the bench if I need them.

It's unlikely that your coil is bad.
It looks like you wired in new connectors where the battery plugs into the bikes wire harness. I think you should take a look at that first...be sure it's right. The battery's wire harness should have a black loop/jumper, that connects the stator to the coil...is it there? In your pic, something looks funky in that connector. Look a a wire diagram and be sure everything is right.

Your off switch could be the problem. If you just unplug it in the HL bucket, that will eliminate it.

This is the jumper. Notice that the 2 black wires from the bikes main wire harness connect to the black loop when the battery plug is connected.

I had to repair the factory harness, only at the end. Positive/Negative to the battery & the other 2 are still the same as the original.

The new battery comes with the male connection wired with a new 10 amp fuse.

The rear brake wire comes in just next to the ignition coil. I may have got those 2 wires switched around.

In pic #5, those blacks look like they have a white tracer. One of them is FROM the primary coil in the stator, the other goes TO the small wire of the ignition coil. The black jumper/loop connects them...stator to coil.

...There shouldn't be any brake wire in the modular plug for the battery. Red and green for the +- battery, and the black/whites mentioned, only.

I pulled out the battery and the frame, and found 1 wire that was not pushed in 100%.

Everything looks like its in the right place.

Did you splice odd color wires into the main harness? You have red, black, yellow, and white. I think it should be red, green(I think) black/white, black/white. In pic #4 it looks like you have yellow and white connected to the black/white loop, red to red, black to green.

    ...What's under the shrink tube
