    CT70 Valve Seat Cutting

I have a few 70 heads that need to be rebuilt. Long story short, Im looking for a Valve Seat Cutter set/kit that will resurface the old valve seats.

I tried a few local machine shops with no luck, so I would rather buy my own tools to do the job.

What size cutters do I need to buy & what angle do I need?

A neway valve seat resurfacer is what you are after. Here is an example...

You can piece them together more cost effective then that kit, but it would do them all.

Here is the upgrade kit for small engines like horizontal hondas....

Seems like it is only missing the t handle and the cutter blades.

Thanks for the reply! In the 2nd link you posted, is that kit the one I need to buy?

I know valve sizes vary a little. Will those 1" cutters work on both the intake and exhaust?

After rebuilding my 70 im sure that lapping my valves is not good enough. Today im getting a compression tester to see what it reads.

IIRC most ct70 or copy heads have 5mm or 5.5mm valve stems. The neway guides adjust a bit each way. The 1" cutter bodies are what you need. The kit in the second link is not complete. It is for somebody that already has a kit with the larger guides and cutter bodies. You would need cutter blades and a "T" handle to make it work as a starter kit. Do some research or talk to some vendors they might be able to help you out?

How does this kit look? Will it work for my application?

I'd have some serious doubts about the quality and precision of The kit, especially because of the price and where it is coming from. I also don't think the Honda valves have a 70° edge, I think they are 45° and 60°, for some reason.

That depends on what all heads you want to be able to cut the seats on. the honda 70 heads depending on year will either have a 5.5mm stem or a 5mm stem. intake valve again depending on year will either be a 25 or 23mm and exhaust will be a 22mm or 20mm. if your only going to cut seats on 70's you can save yourself a few bucks and just pick up the bare min needed to do those valve sizing and stems but... if you have other minis you want to recut seats on the full kit will be the better choice.
