    Just got a 1980 Z50 :-)

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums, just saying hi! I picked up a 1980 Z50 last week from my neighbor. He basically gave it to me for $300.

It needed a little work, I already gave it a full tune up, new rotella T6 oil, spark plug, air filter, carb cleaning, chain adjustment and lubricant. It didn't have a kickstand when I bought it but luckily they still make them so I ordered the whole assembly from bike bandit, was around $35.

The only issues the bike currently has is the throttle cable is old and should be replaced (but still functions so I will put off for now), it needs new grips, and, oh... it needs new front forks. One is bent in pretty good so I need to find a replacement.. also the front tire has a leak and will need replacing..

But anyway, here's a pic of the Z50!

[Edit nevermind... I guess I cannot post links because my "post" count, LAME!]

Also here's me just having fun, I love this thing!!

[Again same as above, really wished I could post images!!]

After I fix everything I do want to do a few mods, I was thinking about doing new suspension mods, like stiffing the rear a bit so I don't bottom it out too much, I don't weigh much (175) but still much more than honda intended! I heard an XR80 swingarm is a popular mod (and cheap on ebay), maybe stiffer springs for front and rear. Also my friend said the 88kit is a very good mod to do, better and more reliable than the lifan 125 engine swap. I do wish there was some sort of clutch conversion kit I could do that was the main reason why I even considered the Lifan 125 engine.

Anyway guys, glad to be here Hoping to learn a lot from you all! I think I could spread a little info too

REALLY sweet find. Still has a tiny bit of red Z print on the seat. Has to be the rarest seat going on Zs.
