Just a quick hijack question...
If installing this in conjuction with a TB manual clutch, will it let you start in any gear while holding in the clutch lever or no?
No. The TB clutch needs to be engaged(don't pull the lever) to start the motor. The kickstart force goes through the clutch so you must be in neutral with the clutch engaged to start. Well, you can start in gear but you still can't touch the clutch lever and once it starts you will promptly lose control of the bike. So start in neutral.

Cool doode, thanx.
Clutches mounted on the end of the crankshaft require you to start them in neutral. If the clutch is not crank mounted it will start in any gear when you pull the clutch in.

I know a couple of people said that this transmission kit will work with a Z50, but are there any extra parts that need to be changed out, such as the kickstarter spindle, to run this kit in a stock 6v 1979 Z50R motor?
No. It will bolt in. Even uses the same sprockets. CRF's need to convert over to Z50 sprockets when they buy the kit.

yeah im thinking about doing this too and i had some q's. is there anything else i should do to the motor while i have it all apart? i mean in the cases? like should i replace shift forks or shim it anywhere? bike runs/shifts fine now but to avoid a future tear down, what are the weak spots in the motors(2007 crf50)?
AHP trans comes with new forks and drum. It's a drop-in. If you wanna get ambitious, you could source some different shim sizes to snug it up. I've put a bunch in, and not had a come-back, though. Two more going in this week. Remember that they're still small gears, so you need to shift right. Heel-slam downshifts will get you in trouble, same as with a Honda 4 speed. I took a spin around the block yesterday on a 117 4-speed. Nice![]()
My mechanic is installing an AHP 4 speed tranny for me and says it only shifts into two gears at one (which of course is bad). He is suspicious because it comes pre-assembled.
I have only heard good things about it, thats why I got it.
Anyone else have problems with this kit?
