i just got done building a 110 that was in bad shape. put 143 kit on it and trail bikes clutch. i cunld not get the clutch to engage but the bike started fine. tried to start it today and it made a grinding noise. opened it up to find that the race and case the kick starter shaft ride in are crack. has anybody else had this problem? do i have to split the case or can you just replace the race? thanks

Had that problem with one of mine. I just bought a new case half, but some people weld them up if it's not to bad. And yes you do have to split the cases to fix this. You should also check your output shaft!!!!
I pressed a steel sleeve over the part of the case that the kick shaft goes into. I had to 2 fracture cracks. Wasn't broke completely, And when i pressed it on i also put some JB weld just to make sure it stays. Have to make sure its a tight fit will probably need a dremel to shape the sleeve to the contour of the case. Once on it cant come off because the kick start shaft wont let it. Working good still for me been over a month now, but i have a decomp cam now so no more hard kicks.
